The European Commission has decided this week to propose that 2011 be designated as the "European Year of Volunteering".

Any social enterprise observers who’d considered putting a bet on how long it would take leading figures in the social enterprise lobby to go cold on the Tories ‘Big Society’ brand will now be wishing they’d put £100 on  ‘under 3 months’.

I never thought I’d say it, but thank Vulcan for Spock and his spreadsheets.

The idea so far has had 19 votes scoring 4.5 out of 5 so far and lots of supportive comments.

If I wrote about myself on the blog in the way that many third sector organisations talk about themselves, you’d probably have the impression that I was a 6 foot hunk with a beach body and sparkling wit and charm.
